Exciting news for all German Shepherd enthusiasts! As in the past two years, the WGSDCA will conduct a WUSV Breed Survey immediately following our 2025 WGSDCA National Championship.
This year could mark a historic milestone for Australia and the WGSDCA, with the potential for our first-ever dogs to achieve their lifetime Breed Survey status. We hope to see a few exceptional dogs complete their repeat surveys, paving the way for this significant moment.
Is Your Dog Eligible for a First-Time WUSV Breed Survey?
Here’s what your German Shepherd needs to qualify:
WUSV-recognized pedigree certificate
At least 2 years of age within the calendar year of the survey
Titles: Endurance, at least IGP1, and ZAP-W/WB for dogs born from January 2022 onwards
Show grading of at least "Good," obtained at no less than 12 months of age
Acceptable hip and elbow scores for breeding
WGSDCA membership
Current Potential
Based on our records, here’s what we estimate within our community:
At least 4 GSDs meet all the requirements for the Breed Survey.
5 dogs may missing only a show grading.
18 dogs meet the IGP title requirement and may only need endurance titles and potentially show gradings.
Let’s Make 2025 Unforgettable
With a bit of preparation, we can showcase an incredible Breed Survey event at our National Championship in June 2025. This is a unique opportunity to demonstrate our dedication to preserving German Shepherds who meet the full WUSV breed mandate.
Get involved and help us celebrate the excellence of this extraordinary breed!
