The Judge

Mr Don Yelle

We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Don Yelle to Australia for the first time for our 2025 WGSDCA Championship! Don was introduced to the German Shepherd Dog and Schutzhund by my father, in 1987. It was then that he took my first grip from an East German dog named Utz, which lit a fire in him; he has been in love ever since. Don has been a member of USCA for over 20 years, and received his performance judges license in September 2016 and this year his Breed Evaluation license. This has led to having judged many Regional Championships, seven National Championships for USCA, a National Championship in Canada for the GSSCC, and serving as the head judge at three USCA National events. In addition to those honours, Don has also judged the Canadian Working Dog Federation world selection trial for IGP-FH. Before becoming a judge, he honed his abilities as a training helper and trial helper. Don earned the opportunity to be selected as a helper for 36 championships in America and once for the German Shepherd Schutzhund Club of Canada National Championship. Something that is of great importance to Don is preserving the working ability, form and function of the German Shepherd Dog. He has titled 8 dogs, showing 5 of them at the USCA Nationals, as well as regional championships, with two of them being from his breeding kennel. Don puts great pride and importance on titling and breed surveying all of his dogs. Don has had the great fortune of being mentored by several great dogmen whom he deeply respects, those of which have helped shape his lifelong dedication to dogs and dog sport. The unique experience of being a helper, handler, a breeder who trains and titles his own dogs and a judge has developed Don into someone who has a heart for the dog and handler team, and a deep understanding of all that we put into this. Don serves as the USCA New England Regional Director and is the Co-Chair of the USCA Helper Committee. Don has dedicated much of his life to the Germans Shepherd Dog and dog sport and continues to be very active in many facets of it. Schutzhund is a lifestyle for Don! We are honored to have Mr. Yelle join us and look forward to have him officiating the 2025 WGSDCA National Championship.

Tracklayers

& Trial Helpers

Tracklayers John Daniel, TBC Trial Helpers Mike Sweeney - USCA I want to thank WGDSCA for the honor to part of this great competition. I will give my best to work the dogs as the Judge deems in accordance with the rule book. Safely and fairly testing each dog will be of the utmost importance. I started this sport in 2012 and will advocate we get to enjoy it for years to come. I believe the best helpers should also experience time on the centerline as a handler. As a helper I’ve worked over 300 dogs in IGP trials. I’ve been the front or back half helper in 8 Regional Championships and 1 Malinois National Championship. As a handler I’ve shown two dogs and just started the career of the third. I currently serve as Vice President of USCA, have been WUSV Team Captain several times or Team Helper. My wife Carina since moving to America has made two WUSV Teams with her dog Hopper vom Brachtpetal and Kobe vom tapferen Krieger. She breeds under the kennel name “vom tapferen Krieger”.
