Puppy Assessment Test

The "ZAP-W" Title

What Is It?

The ZAP-W (also referred to as "WB" in certain countries) is part of the WUSV Breeding Eligibility Mandate.

Even if you have no plans of breeding your dog at a later date, it's something fun and easy to do with a young German Shepherd. The only 'preparation' required is to bond with your dog via play and socialisation.

The test is for dogs between 9-12mo of age. Dispensation may be given for dogs outside this age bracket. The test asserts the dog's general disposition and behaviour in 18 different exercises including its response to various common scenarios such as strangers, noise and other dogs. Its motoric skills and play drive is also observed. More information is available here.

There are no points given and the test is a Fail/Pass. Only dogs who are extremely fearful or aggressive will receive a fail. A certificate summarising the responses observed during the test is provided to the successful dog.
